Celebrating women artists across Edinburgh and Scotland

In celebration of International Women’s Day 2025, “Together in Art” presents a vibrant group exhibition showcasing ten women artists from Edinburgh and across Scotland. This exhibition celebrates the power of community, where creativity and collaboration converge. Featuring artists at varying stages of their careers, the show offers a diverse range of artistic styles and perspectives.

This exhibition honours the unique practices of Jenna Waldren, Siobhan McLaughlin, Nancy Nightingale, Nicola Wiltshire, Hannah Benassi, Lynsey MacKenzie, Connie Liebschner, Rhona Taylor, Gill Knight, and Ella Williams. From Jenna’s intimate visual diaries, capturing fleeting daily moments, to Siobhan’s layered installations exploring place and sustainability, the exhibition showcases diverse approaches to artmaking. Nancy translates changing light into cinematic architectural renderings, while Nicola finds inspiration in the tactile nature of textiles for her contemporary paintings.

Hannah captures ethereal landscapes of memory through her intuitive layering of mixed mediums, and Lynsey explores colour and materiality through expressive mark-making. Connie creates immersive spaces with layered imagery, and Rhona’s painterly process investigates the interplay of people and place through her multi-disciplinary research. Gill’s atmospheric landscapes reflect her local surroundings in Queensferry, while Ella, an emerging undergraduate artist from Edinburgh College of Art, captures a blend of traditional and contemporary painterly qualities, weaving abstracted narratives into her evolving storytelling.

In the spirit of “Accelerating Action for Gender Equality,” we invite you to celebrate the variation of art and the dynamic community that makes it possible. Join us in fostering connection, creativity, and shared support.
